This lightning-quick pass-around recipe has been one of my
favorites since a friend gave it to me years ago. These days I reach for a rotisserie chicken
and have my version on the table whenever the kids ask for it. Serve with warm rolls and
settle in for for the alphabet game.

Bring the broth, chicken, vegetables, tomatoes, water, and bay leaves
to a boil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Turn the heat to low, stir
in the pasta, and simmer, covered, until the pasta is tender, about 12 minutes. Remove from
the heat and discard the bay leaves. Stir in the onions and add salt and pepper.
