Although I may not consume rye bread on a regular basis, I did, in fact, enjoy Manna Organics Whole Rye Manna Bread. Aside from being organic, I already liked this bread due to the fact that it was whole grain, and had no added sugar or fat. It was a good sized loaf, and brown in color. After slicing off a piece and tasting it, I immediately noticed the texture. It was rather grainy and I would even say had a nutty texture- certainly had a nice bite to it! There were even parts of the bread that looked like cooked popcorn kernels.
To my surprise, despite the grainy texture, the bread was actually still pretty soft! It was certainly both chewy and dense, and not dry at all. It had an excellent rye flavor, but I felt as if something was missing- salt. It was slightly on the bland or plain side, so I decided to sprinkle just a bit of salt on it. Much better! It really allowed the rye flavor to shine through, and made it much more enjoyable.
Overall, an enjoyable rye bread, with great nutrition facts. I can see myself perhaps enjoying this as part of a meal, with just a sprinkle of salt for flavor.
