I'll be honest, I never had cake made from a microwave. Yes, perhaps a slice of cake heated up in the microwave, but not cooked in the microwave. Sadly, after trying FiberGourmet Lite Cinnamon Crumb Cake, I probably will not venture into any other types microwave cake either. I poured the cake mix into the tiny bowl provided in the package, and stirred it up with 1 Tablespoon of water. It mixed rather easily, and did resemble cake batter once it was mixed. I did enjoy the sweet cinnamon smell that arose after adding the water- it sure smells good! At first I was a bit skeptical- how is this little bit of liquid going to plump up into a cake? But, alas, after a little bit in the microwave, it did! I put the brown sugar topping on top of the cake once it was done in the microwave, and took a bite. The brown sugar topping itself was rather grainy- and I probably would not have guessed that it was brown sugar. The cake itself certainly was crumby in consistency (which I guess is good, considering it is called a "Cinnamon Crumb Cake") and also quite airy. One thing was for sure, it certainly was sweet. It did have a good vanilla and cinnamon flavor, but overall was just too sweet. Combined with the airy consistency, I felt like I was eating cotton candy in a way. Although convenient, I probably won't eat this again. I was impressed that there was 12 grams of fiber per serving, but I missed the rich and decadent taste that I have had in my past experiences of cake.
