Organic Wine: Part I, the test.

I decided to do some research this weekend about Organic Wine. And, you should know that, despite the fact that I LOVE wine, well, I usually wake up with a hangover and sometimes, an upset stomach as well after only like TWO glasses of wine. Not good for someone who loves to have a glass or two (or three sometimes). So, I hop over to my local (well, not exactly neighborhood, it was on Columbus Circle-- a 45 minute schlep by subway, bus, train and plane.) The store, 67 Wine, features over 200 bio-dynamic and organic wines. I am not going to bore you with all the detailed definitions and had myself a handy dandy organic wine fest. Perfect thing to do on a rainy Saturday while the rest of the east coast is under water from the torrential downpour happening this weekend. And what I discovered was...great wine! Without all those nasty preservatives like copper (did I say copper?? YES I did). You are sometimes ingesting copper when you drink wine--but not bio-dynamic wine. The downside is that I didn't find an organic, all natural wine that I liked as much as my oaky tasting chardonnay--because a wine that is truly bio-dyanmic won't add oak chips unless the oak chips are also organic. But anyway, I left the place feeling quite happy indeed. With my two new purchases, I figured I'd have a great weekend...which I did. And guess what the wonderful after effect was of all this organic wine? None-- yes, for the first time in years, I woke up hangover free, stomach ache free. Is it in my head, or do organically grown wines really your body different? I'm not 100% sure, but I'm looking forward to some more research!
