Lisa, the Health Nut

I'm lisa and I loooove healthy food!  The lifestyle I chose to live is eating only natural or organic food products, minimally processed whenever possible.  What I can't stand is that people may  automatically assume all "health food" that I eat isn't flavorful or tasty.  THIS IS NOT TRUE!  Why would I eat stuff that doesn't taste good?  So my mission is to spread the word that "healthy" does not mean "tasteless".  Healthy food can be just as yummy as the not-so healthy types!   I'll let you know what foods are good, and which ones aren't so good. :)

Chobani Champions

Chobani Champions are a new product from Chobani. They are still yummy greek yogurt, but in a smaller size ( 4 oz compared to the original 6 oz) and are geared towards kids (but of course, you and me can totally still eat them too! ;) )

They come in 4 flavors, Verryberry, Strawnana, Honeynana, and Chocolate. I was lucky enough to be sent all 4 flavors, courtesy of Chobani, and couldn’t have been more excited. I LOVE greek yogurt! I was especially excited to try the Chocolate- who doesn’t love chocolate?

Verryberry- ooh, this one is tasty. You can definetely taste the cream they added, which makes the flavors much more rich and delicious. It has a predominant blueberry and strawberry flavor, with a hint of raspberry as well. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and tasted real. One of the reasons I love Chobani is because they use REAL fruit in their yogurts- no “flavors”. I can definetely taste the actual fruit- very yummy! 4 stars

Strawnana- this one literally is the smaller version of the Strawberry-Banana Chobani (which I reviewed HERE). Perfect blend of strawberry and banana flavors, and you can actually see little strawberry seeds dispersed throughout. This one reminds me of a home-made smoothie. Delicious.  4 1/2 stars

Chocolate- definietly more of a cocoa flavor than chocolate, but still enjoyable. It was also slightly bitter, giving more of a dark chocolate taste than milk chocolate. It was also sweet, but not hershey’s chocolate syrup sweet. It sort of reminded me of hot cocoa- but cold. It was REALLY good frozen (with bananas and dark chocolate almond granola!!), and reminded me of the chocolate frozen yogurt I usually get at my local frozen yogurt place (Red Mango, anyone??). This one the liquid also separated a little bit, but instead of stirring it in (DON’T pour it out!! you lose valuable nutrients!!), I just drank it up :) It was actually quite yummy! 4 1/2 stars

Honeynana- FINALLY!!!!!!!!!! A REAL tasting banana yogurt!! No icky laffy-taffy banana flavor, or fake aspartame/sucralose banana flavor (thank you, DIET yogurts). This one was my favorite, for sure! A light honey flavor and just a hint of vanilla flavor complimented the banana very well. It was the perfect sweetness, and reminded me of a banana smoothie. 5 stars

Overall, these get 4 1/2 stars. They are all rich, creamy and refreshing. These yogurts (unlike a lot of other yogurts geared towards kids) don’t have artificial colors or flavors, and aren’t packed with refined sugars or High Fructose Corn Syrup (ew!!). I’m actually sort of upset they are in the 4 oz. size- I wish they were bigger, they are so delicious! I tried having the verryberry flavor with my cereal and fruit for breakfast, and it wasn’t enough to cover and coat all my delicious goodies that a normal Chobani can. However, I think these are perfect for a snack when you need more sustenance than a regular yogurt can provide, but don’t need ALL the protein of a full size greek (full sized greek yogurts can go up to 18 grams! wow!)
